Tairua and Pauanui are fabulous twin coastal towns in a superb setting on the east coast of the Coromandal Peninsula, on the Pacific Ocean and are favourite holiday resorts for New Zealanders. Tairua looks out over the harbour surrounded by white sandy beaches and linked to Pauanui by 3 wharfs. At the head of the harbour is an island named Paku, this has a fascinating history and from its peak, Paku Hill gives way to panoramic views of the area and the islands laying offshore, Slipper, Shoe and the Alderman Islands.
